Who is monitoring your home alarm system?
One of the aspects of your home burglary system that you may not have considered is who is monitoring it. Most homeowners who install a home alarm system assume the company installing their new system also performs the monitoring, but that’s not always the case. Your system is only as good as the company that monitors it for you. In some cases, your home security system installer will subcontract the monitoring, and there are cases where the subcontractor isn’t even located in your state! It’s important to ask your installation company, even before they come to your home, who will be monitoring your system. You want to make sure the company is a reputable, preferably national company, located in your city. Ask if your monitoring system has an Underwriters Laboratory rating. Although some great monitoring companies don’t have this rating, it’s a good indicator if your monitoring company is up to par. Also double-check with your installer to make sure your monitoring service is 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Ask the installer if the monitoring company has information about their average response time. Find out, too, what happens if your alarm is tripped by accident. Some monitoring services require you to pay a fee for false alarms. Copyright © 2004 HomeAlarmSecuritySystems.com |
